How to choose the right 3-way filtered tap

A 3-way tap combines your everyday hot and cold mixer with a separate filtered water line through the same spout, switched by a small lever or button on the body. This removes the need for a second small filter tap and an extra hole in the sink or benchtop, which matters if your sink only has one tap hole to begin with. Check whether the tap you're considering is sold with a filter cartridge and housing included, or as the tap only, since the under-sink filter unit is what actually does the filtering.

Confirm you have space under the sink for the filter housing and, on some models, a small storage tank, and check the cartridge replacement interval so you know the ongoing running cost. Choose a finish that matches your other kitchen tapware and hardware, whether that's a warm brushed gold, a cooler gun metal or brushed nickel, or a classic chrome. A swivel spout is worth prioritising if you want the tap to reach comfortably across a wide or double-bowl sink.
