Domus Living Solid Surface Bathware Australia | Shower Floors, Basins & Baths

Solid surface bathware, made in Italy for Australian bathrooms
Domus Living's Domustone® shower floors, basins and freestanding baths replace tiles and grout with a single, seamless surface — engineered to Australian standards, backed by a real warranty, and stocked ready to order.
A shower floor with no grout to fail
Domustone® shower bases are moulded as a single piece with the fall to waste built in — the tile joints, grout lines and separate waterproofing membrane a tiled shower floor depends on simply aren't there to fail.
Pietra & Cemento shower floor ranges
Pietra brings a natural stone look; Cemento reads as honed polished concrete. Both are cut from the same solid surface, in the same finish and size run, so you can match a shower floor to almost any bathroom material palette without stepping down to tiles.
- ✓No grout, no mould, no leaks — one continuous surface instead of dozens of grout lines
- ✓In-built slope engineered for correct drainage to the waste, every time
- ✓Complies with Australian NCC 2022 for shower floor installations
- ✓Silica-free — Domustone is a mineral-composite material, not an engineered stone
- ✓Huge size range — roughly 700mm to 2000mm, square, rectangular, corner, alcove and custom-cutable
- ✓Easy to clean with common household detergents
Tiles, engineered stone, or a solid surface base?
Every shower floor material trades off differently on waterproofing, maintenance and (since 2024) legal supply in Australia. Here's how a Domustone base actually compares.
| Tiled shower floor | Engineered stone | Domustone solid surface | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grout / joints | Dozens of joints, need re-sealing | Slab joints depending on layout | None — single moulded piece |
| Waterproofing | Separate membrane beneath tiles | Separate membrane required | Integrated, one-piece base |
| Fall to waste | Set by the tiler on site | Set by the installer | Factory-built into every base |
| Crystalline silica | N/A | Yes — subject to AU supply restrictions | None |
| Step-free / level entry | Possible, adds build complexity | Possible, adds build complexity | Standard, no-step profile |
| Typical residential warranty | Workmanship only, varies by installer | Varies by fabricator | 7 years on the product |
Above-counter & freestanding basins
Domustone Pure® swaps the acrylic resin most solid surfaces use for a vegetable-based (maize) resin instead — a fully recyclable, eco-friendly material that's still fireproof to Class 1 and stain-resistant enough for daily use. Select pieces use Cristalplant®, the Italian solid surface designers reach for when finish quality matters most.
- ✓Homogeneous through the full thickness — scratches and stains buff out rather than needing replacement
- ✓Matte white velvet-touch finish, or a custom RAL colour to order
- ✓Fireproof (Class 1), UV-stable, hygienic and non-porous
- ✓100% recyclable, made with plant-based resin
Freestanding baths
The same matte white solid surface as the basin range, formed into a freestanding bath shell with a 25-year structural warranty — the longest cover in the Domus Living range, reflecting how the material behaves once it's actually installed and living in a bathroom.
- ✓25-year structural integrity warranty, 5 years on the solid surface finish
- ✓Velvet-touch matte white as standard, custom RAL colour available
- ✓Reparable finish — scratches and marks can be restored rather than replaced
- ✓Sizes from compact apartment-width (650mm) through to 1770mm+
Three names, one idea: solid surface, made properly
Domus Living uses three related but distinct materials depending on the product — here's what each one actually is.
Domustone®
A technologically advanced composite: mostly natural mineral charges (calcium carbonate) with a small proportion of high-purity polyester and acrylic polymers. Inert, hypoallergenic, UV-resistant and heavy-duty; with no quartz or crystalline silica, so it's a genuinely different material to engineered stone, not a variant of it.
Domustone Pure®
A matte white solid surface, homogeneous through its full thickness, velvet to the touch. The distinguishing detail: Domus Living's labs replaced the acrylic resin standard to solid surface manufacturing with a vegetable-origin (maize) resin, making it fully recyclable and eco-friendly without giving up fire resistance (Class 1) or stain resistance.
Cristalplant®
A globally recognised Italian solid surface used by well-known designers and architects. Matte white, homogeneous, fireproof and reparable, with the finish quality and customisation that comes from decades as the material of choice for high-end bathroom design.
