In-Slab Floor Heating Cable Kits for New Concrete Slabs

Heating cable kits designed to be laid within a structural concrete slab during new build or major renovation work.

Why choose in-slab floor heating from Lamex

  • Cable is laid and fixed within the structural slab before pouring
  • Large and medium kit sizes to suit whole-room or whole-floor heating
  • Best suited to new builds or full slab replacement projects
  • High thermal mass gives slow, even, long-lasting warmth
  • Pairs with a floor thermostat for scheduled operation
  • Installed by a licensed electrician in coordination with your builder

How to choose the right in-slab heating kit

In-slab heating is laid and fixed to reinforcing mesh before the structural concrete slab is poured over it, which means it needs to be planned in from the start of a new build or a project where the slab is being fully replaced. Because it sits within the main structural mass of the floor, it heats up and cools down more slowly than thinner systems, but holds that warmth for longer once up to temperature.

Sizing is based on the floor area to be heated in square metres, with cable length and wattage matched to that area at standard spacing. Because the cable has to go in before the pour, timing has to be coordinated closely with your builder and concreter, and the wiring and testing should be carried out by a licensed electrician alongside a compatible thermostat for scheduled, efficient running.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between in-slab and in-screed floor heating?
In-slab heating is laid within the main structural concrete slab, usually planned into a new build or full slab replacement. In-screed heating sits in a thinner topping layer poured over an existing subfloor, which is more common in renovations.
Can in-slab heating be added to an existing home?
Generally no, since the structural slab is already poured and set in an existing home. In-slab heating is best suited to new builds, extensions or projects where the slab is being replaced entirely. An existing home is usually better suited to in-screed or under tile heating instead.
How is an in-slab heating kit sized for a room?
Kits are sized by the floor area to be heated, measured in square metres, with cable length and wattage matched to that area at the manufacturer's standard spacing.
