Material matters more outdoors than almost any other factor. Look specifically for 316 marine-grade stainless steel rather than standard 304 or plated brass, particularly within a few kilometres of the coast where salt air accelerates corrosion. Ceramic disc cartridges are worth checking for too, since they handle temperature and mineral changes in outdoor water lines better than older washer-style valves, and they reduce the chance of drips developing over time.
