How to choose the right outdoor spout

A spout is not a stand-alone tap; it needs a separate mixer valve plumbed in behind or beside it to control temperature and flow. Start by confirming what mixer you already have or plan to install, then choose a spout with a matching inlet thread and mounting style, whether that's a fixed wall spout or a flexible cobra-style spout for a kitchen or vegetable-wash sink. Buying the spout and mixer from the same finish range keeps the look consistent.

Measure spout reach against the fixture it's filling. For a freestanding outdoor bath, measure from the finished wall to the deepest point of the tub or its overflow, and choose a spout long enough to fill without splashing outside the bath. For a kitchen or laundry-style outdoor sink, a flexible cobra spout with a vegetable spray gives more reach and manoeuvrability for washing produce or rinsing equipment.
