How to choose the right plain framed mirror

Choose a shape that suits the room: round mirrors soften a bathroom with a lot of straight lines and square tiling, arch shapes add height and a slightly more traditional feel, and rounded-rectangular mirrors give the most reflective area for a double vanity. Measure your vanity width and keep the mirror within about 50-100mm of it on each side, and check the mounting height so the mirror's centre sits close to eye height for whoever uses the bathroom most.

Frame finish is largely a styling decision. Brushed nickel suits chrome or brushed nickel tapware and a lighter, more traditional palette, while matte black pairs with matte black fittings and darker cabinetry for a more contemporary contrast. Because these mirrors aren't illuminated, check your existing or planned vanity lighting will give even coverage across the full mirror, and confirm the wall-mounting hardware is rated for the mirror's weight, particularly on larger sizes.
