How to choose the right plain frameless mirror

Decide on the edge finish first. A bevelled edge is ground at an angle and catches the light along its border, giving a slightly more decorative, traditional look. A pencil edge is rounded smooth and flush with the glass face, reading as simpler and more contemporary. Both are equally safe once installed, so the choice comes down to style rather than performance. For sizing, keep the mirror a little narrower than the vanity top and tall enough to reflect the main user comfortably while standing at the basin.

Check whether brackets are included before ordering: some mirrors are supplied ready to hang, while others are glass only and need brackets or mirror clips purchased separately. Frameless mirrors have no border to trap moisture, so they resist the discolouration that can eventually affect a timber or MDF-backed frame in a humid bathroom. If you're replacing an existing mirror, measure the current fixing points so the new mirror's brackets line up, or plan for new fixing points if the size is changing.
