How to choose the right skew toilet

A skew toilet is a specialist fix for a specific plumbing problem: the waste outlet isn't in a position that a standard straight-down (S-trap) or straight-back (P-trap) pan can reach. This is common in older homes where the drain layout predates the current bathroom design, or where a previous renovation left the waste slightly offset from where a new pan needs to sit. Rather than break into the slab or wall to relocate the drain, a skew pan channels the outlet sideways at an angle to meet it.

Before ordering, measure the exact angle and offset distance of your existing waste outlet, and compare it against the pan's specified outlet geometry — skew pans are built to a fixed offset and aren't adjustable on site. Because this is a less common configuration than standard S-trap or P-trap suites, it's worth having a licensed plumber confirm compatibility before you commit, particularly if the suite will be difficult to exchange once installed.
