Installation type affects both look and benchtop compatibility. Undermount sinks need a stone or solid-surface benchtop that can be cut and polished to the bowl's edge, giving a seamless wipe-down line. Top-mount sinks drop into a cut laminate or stone benchtop and are the simpler retrofit option for a like-for-like sink swap. Workstation sinks add integrated ledges for accessories such as cutting boards and drying racks, which is worth considering if bench space is tight.
