How to choose the right wall hung pan

A wall-hung pan can't be installed on its own — it bolts to a concealed cistern frame fixed inside the wall, which carries the combined weight of the pan and user, so the frame must be selected and rated before the pan is chosen. If you're renovating rather than building new, confirm that a frame can be installed in your wall (stud walls are straightforward; masonry walls need a furred-out frame built in front of them). This is a bigger job than swapping a floor pan, so it typically suits a full bathroom renovation rather than a like-for-like replacement.

One practical advantage of a wall-hung pan is mounting height: installers can set the height on the frame within a limited range, which matters for accessible bathrooms or households with specific height needs. Beyond that, choose flush technology (rimless or tornado-flush reduce cleaning effort) and finish to suit the rest of the bathroom. As with any in-wall system, plan the flush plate or access panel position before tiling, since that's the only route to servicing the cistern afterward.
